Public Sector and PFI experience

Ena Shaw Contract has a long standing relationship with the public sector, providing contract soft furnishings across a wide variety of property portfolios. In partnership with many of the key PFI providers, the company has supplied numerous Army, Air Force and Naval bases with curtains, blinds and soft furnishings for public buildings and married quarter accommodation. In addition we have recently been appointed as a supplier to the National Housing Prime Contract for the soft furnishings framework agreement, working in partnership with CarillionAmey on all military accommodation nationwide.

We also supply curtains and blinds to many schools and universities nationwide, and were recently appointed as preferred suppliers on the NWUPC university procurement platform.

London 2012 Athletes Villages

We were delighted to win the international tender to exclusively survey, supply and fit all the London 2012 Athletes Villages with curtains and tracks.

Working directly with LOCOG we furnished over 16,000 rooms in the main village at Stratford and the Sailing Village in Weymouth.

The ODA (Olympic Delivery Authority) had always struggled at previous Games to achieve blackout curtains. This had led to complaints from athletes and team managers, as athletes often need to sleep during the day. We helped to advise LOCOG regarding the specification of the fabric and fitting and our custom made approach for every window solved the problem.

With 66 tower blocks of around 12 floors each, our fitting teams were kept very busy. Although we only gained access to fit the made to measure blackout curtains at the end of January 2012, we completed on time at the end of May.

After the games, curtains were added to the ODA’s list of “Brilliant Basics” and we were awarded official supplier status. We are very proud to be able to display “supplier of curtains, tracks and fitting services (Athletes Villages) to the London 2012 Games” as one of our accreditations.

MOD / CarillionAmey

MOD / CarillionAmey

Ena Shaw Contract has a long history of working with the MOD through their building and PFI partners and our survey, manufacturing and fitting teams can always be relied on to fulfil their demands. These can often change at a moment’s notice, given the nature of Tri-Services deployment, and our teams go out of their way to make sure that service family accommodation is ready when required.

As can be seen from our recent project list, we have refurbished many military bases over the years. Many of these have been completed against challenging timelines - at RAF Innsworth, we only had two weeks to survey, manufacture and fit an entire housing estate and at Fareham we completed 190 houses in record time. But this is just the sort of service that our clients have come to expect, which is why Ena Shaw Contract is the first choice partner for so many builders.

All our survey and fitting teams have been security cleared to work on MOD properties, and we understand the protocols required to interface professionally with military personnel.

As a result of our experience in this sector we are delighted to have recently partnered with CarillionAmey. Our framework agreement allows Ena Shaw Contract to supply and fit soft furnishings to all military accommodation across the UK. We are looking forward to working with CarillionAmey and its partners on this National Housing Prime Contract.

Client feedback

“Ena Shaw Contract has proved to be a very reliable partner for our refurbishment contracts with the MOD.

They offer a complete survey, manufacture and installation service on incredibly tight lead times, and supply the wide range of high quality soft furnishings that we require.

PBS Group now considers Ena Shaw Contract to be one of our strategic partners for MOD contracts and we would recommend them to anyone requiring their services.”

HMS Lancaster

HMS Lancaster

During the tender race for the MOD HM Ships soft furnishings contract, a number of ships needed urgent refurbishment prior to deployment. One such project was HMS Lancaster, a “Duke” class Type 23 Frigate.

Ena Shaw Contract quickly arranged for our specialist surveyors to meet the ship in Southampton and took all the necessary measurements to replace the ward room furnishings. Patterns were created and the products were made from MOD approved fabrics to the highest FR and performance specifications.

We delivered the covers in plenty of time for the ship to sail with a newly refurbished ward room.
